So I gave into the urge to broaden my social networking world and created a Tumblr account dedicated specifically to Soccer/Football/Footie/Futbol/Whatever.

Check it out at NearPost!

For all those who aren’t soccer/wordplay junkies: the title is a play on soccer and blogging.  You post in a blog (but you know that) and a near post in soccer is the goal post which the soccer passes by first.  Ok, enough. Enjoy.

We all love crap-tastic novelas that make us weak at the knees and sometimes physically nauseated from the crumminess of the writing or the terribly explicit love scenes.  Admit it! You do!!

Ok, so if you won’t admit to reading some Jennifer Crusie or Alisa Valdez-Rodriguez from time to time, you’ve gotta agree that the weighty Victor Hugo, shoot your brains out book doesn’t sit well when you’re enjoying a day out at the beach.  Much less when you’re tired from work and school and just want something mild to numb your mind.

It’s at these crucial times that we turn to the leg-crossing stories that we won’t recommend to our mothers.  (Oh, stop acting like you don’t enjoy every bit of it!!!)

The problem is, most of this trash is, well, trash.  The disappointment of getting to the end of a novel and wishing you hadn’t spent the three days and $6.99 on that book is one of the worst feelings known to all book lovers.  It makes the shame of reading a book like that in the first place almost unbearable.

So that’s when these chick-lit guru’s come in: Smart Bitches, Trashy Books.  Their tag line is “all of the romance, none of the bullshit.” Their reviews and grading are pretty on-the-money and honest.  Say goodbye to disappointment and hello to well-written, sexy, bilingual, educated, successful men that just want to take that normal-seeming girl out for a few drinks….and then some.

Sounds like heaven.

Enjoy! And be smart about all the shit you read.
